WHAT IS A GARDEN COACH?
Whether you’re a first-time homeowner and you don’t know where to begin, or if your long-loved garden needs a refresh, I’ll empower you to take steps towards creating a garden you’ve always wanted to enjoy, no matter what the state of your current yard or garden.
As your garden coach, I’m here to work with your garden dreams, budget, and preferred level of maintenance to help you enjoy the kitchen or landscape gardens and backyard chicken flocks you’ve always wanted. I can help you learn how to work with your garden, make better choices, and avoid time-consuming and expensive mistakes. My goal is to help you to work smarter and not harder. Using my experience, tools, and local resources, I’m here to be of service to you and your garden space.

ABOUT JOSH
Welcome! I’m Josh Cleveland, based in Spokane, Wash. and I think in flowers.
A lifelong admirer of gardens and beauty, I am a self-taught gardener with years of landscaping, gardening, and independent design experience in both Western and Eastern Washington state. I’m an avid learner, reader, and podcast-listener, so I’m constantly growing my own skills.
The garden is one of my happiest places, and it’s my pleasure to help gardeners of any skill-level find new ways to enjoy their space, no matter how big or how small.
My approach to garden coaching is supportive, creative, and realistic in order to help aspiring or overwhelmed gardeners reach their desired aesthetic. The end goal: help gardeners enjoy the benefits of a beautiful space that fits their lifestyle and preferred level of maintenance and care.
If you’re familiar with Gallup’s Strengths, my top five are: Empathy, Harmony, Adaptability, Developer, Individualization. Each of these play an key role in my work as a garden coach!
Though Spokane Garden Coach is not my full-time work, I’m committed to my clients and their hopes for their plots of land. (Once I start a garden project, I can’t stop thinking about it! I’m in it with you!)
By training, I’m a listener, a caregiver, a companion, and a creator. I bring those perspectives to my work in my garden and the gardens my clients entrust to me. Think of me as a friend who listens well and is not afraid to offer helpful strategies. Or think of me as a garden doula who helps you bring new life to your landscape. I count it a great day when I get to support others one-on-one and help their garden space in the process.
